Day 7

One week down :)

Got to work this morning, and it was pretty quiet, but because I have sworn a solemn blood oath not to check my Facebook while at work, I checked my email and fiddled around at my desk for a bit, and got to reading featured articles on Wikipedia (as you do). Read about this French bird called Jeanne Calment, who holds the record of the longest lifespan of any human (confirmed). Apparently this gutsy old sheila lived to the ripe old age of 122, on a steady diet including one kilogram of chocolate per week, plus two smokes a day from age 21 to age 114. Never too late to quit, eh? Anyway, I'm sure living that long requires some sort of discipline, however smoking and excess chocolate consumption wouldn't have been my first guesses.

I did put away a one hundred gram block of Cadbury's at recess time just to boost my chances, though.

Decided that as I am now a successfully reformed gardener, I'd like to add to my family of green and so am making an offer of adoption to any plants out there that may want a new home. The line-up of empty pots on the verandah is a sullen reminder of my track record with growing things, and I'm not appreciating it. (Although if growing weeds is deemed a contribution to the horticultural sciences, I should be given an honorary doctorate based on the garden bed by the front door alone...)

The blue-tongue lizard (on antibiotics) suffered from my brief lapse of discipline today when I forgot to return him to his terrarium, and so consequently he is on the loose somewhere in the house, and I can't find him. May not have to feed the dog in the morning after all.

Somebody call me at lunchtime tomorrow and remind me to drink my water!!

M xx
