Taking a quick few minutes to blog before settling in to watch ... I'm almost ashamed to say... Twilight Part 4 (again). Guilty pleasures *sigh*. I felt that after the last couple of days effort I'm so reformed I can afford to treat myself!
I think it's working!! A few things at least that seem to be becoming more automatic, or maybe my subconscious is taking note of the fact that there are people reading this and waiting on the outcome, and so actually I am just reverting to my old habit of 'doing whatever is needed to save face' he he. On the topic of faces - my five-star face-washing station is so awesome I actually looked forward to washing my face tonight. Win! Did I mention I also bought a new toothbrush? It promises the world, and is like an automatic carwash in terms of features and stages and cleaning functions, but all I really care about is that it's pretty enough to make me notice it and use it. (Flight of fancy - imagine if there was a tooth cleaning machine akin to the automatic carwash, where you just opened your mouth wide and the robot did the rest... hmmm...)
It's sweet to read and hear about people who have been inspired to write their own list, or dig in in some way along side me - always room for more in the trenches! I feel like I'm hosting my own tiny revolution. As an increased incentive, if you guys keep at it, in a few days I'm going to add some more difficult (and in some instances highly embarrassing) items to my List... *wink*. My boys have certainly developed a renewed passion for tooth-brushing, and even Harvey gets in on the act by munching on one of his many small toothbrushes for a good few minutes every time I am near the bathroom.
Dave tells me he is proud of me - which is about the most sparkling thing a wife can hear from her husband - and even added his own shoulder to the scrum today by vacuuming the whole house and letting me have a brief nap because I was half-comatose from being up early again. Six on a Saturday feels so much earlier than six any other day, except maybe Sunday! Feels kind of good though, and I can now get up about one minute after waking, which used to feel about as likely as levitating from my pillow and flying down to the kitchen.
Having the bathroom makeover work such wonders on my beauty routine has made me wonder whether similar treatments would work for some of my other List items. Wondering about perhaps making myself a really cosy retreat in my bedroom, for Bible reading and planning activities - with a comfy chair and a little table and a diary and phone charger etc. Comments and suggestions welcome. Do any of you guys have a 'retreat spot'?
Anyway, mushy vampire goodness is calling. (And hopefully not a couch snooze, seeing as I'm supposed to be going to bed sensibly!) M xx
